Take Your Dog to Work Day

They say “every dog has its day.” You and/or your business can help celebrate every dog’s special day by participating in Take Your Dog to Work Day. Even if dogs cannot be present in your workplace, you still can play a vital role. If you own a business or manage a company, please consider participating in Take Your Dog to Work Day. If you are an employee, please encourage your employer to participate.
WHAT IS TAKE YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY?
Take Your Dog to Work Day promotes a fun and uniquely positive interaction between people and dogs and recognizes the love and happiness these animals bring to our lives. By participating in this event, businesses and employers will help:
- raise awareness about homeless pets
- educate the community about shelter dogs
- promote adoptions from the Lawrence Humane Society
- celebrate that special bond between dogs and their people
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
*Invite your employees to bring their well-behaved dogs to work on this special day. The human/animal interaction has been proven to boost employee morale, lower stress in the workplace, and promote pet adoptions.
*Charge each employee a $10 per dog fee. Your company can then match that amount and donate the proceeds to help animal welfare at the Lawrence Humane Society. The Humane Society will provide each participating employee a packet of “goodies.”
*Take photos of employees with their dogs and hold a contest for the best picture. The Humane Society will provide a prize to the winner and enter the photo in its current Calendar Photo Contest.
*Invite the Humane Society to come to your business for an employee education session. We are eager to educate the community about homeless animals, health benefits of animal ownership, and other pet welfare topics.
*Retail stores, banks, etc.: Invite your patrons to bring their dogs into your business for the day. The Humane Society will provide information about homeless dogs and about our shelter to give to your patrons. Set up a table (or a jar on your counter) for contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society.
*No pets allowed? No problem! If you cannot allow dogs in your business, invite your employees to bring photos of their beloved canine friends. Charge $10 per photo, match the fee, and donate the proceeds to the Humane Society. Hold a contest for the best picture. The Humane Society will provide a prize to the winner and enter the photo in its current Calendar Photo Contest.
SPONSORS ARE NEEDED
Even if you cannot participate in Take Your Dog to Work Day, you may want to consider sponsoring this event. Sponsorships will help the Lawrence Humane Society afford to promote and advertise the event, and your name will appear on all promotional materials. “CEO Sponsorships” are available for $100.
