Let’s Help Lost Pets
Find Their Way Back Home
If your dogs or cats have not been chipped, now is the time to do so. Please remember, our animals can't tell anyone where they live. Should they become lost and lose their collars or tags, how can we help them find their homes? We owe it to our "best friends" to help keep them safe.
If your animals are already microchipped, please talk to your friends and neighbors about the advantages of a microchip. Each year across the country, seven million cats and dogs are lost, but only 16 percent of dogs and 2 percent of cats find their way home again from shelters. Let's do everything we can to make sure lost pets can always go home again.
To help pets reunite with their owners, it’s important that all animals wear tags and/or have microchips. On Saturday, April 2, the Lawrence Humane Society is offering a special microchip promotion ($15 per pet) both at the shelter (1805 E. 19th Street, Lawrence) and at Petco (3115 Iowa Street). Let’s do everything we can to make sure lost pets can always go home again.
Microchip hours:
Lawrence Humane Society shelter: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Petco: noon to 4:00 p.m.
