Trip to French Quarter in New Orleans Headlines the 2011 Pawsible Dream Auction

Get ready to party like the Big Easy!

Starting with a silent auction at 6 p.m., this year's event will be celebrated with a "Mardi Paws" theme and offers an entertaining evening of music, food, drinks, raffles, and lively bidding on hundreds of items at the Lawrence Holiday Inn, 200 McDonald Drive. A live auction follows beginning at 8 p.m.

The Pawsible Dream generates vital resources and allows the Lawrence Humane Society to continue its service of the Lawrence and Douglas County area in caring for several thousand lost, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals each year.

What's on this year's auction block? Check out these great items:

• Two-night stay at the Sheraton Hotel in the French Quarter, New Orleans, including gift card for airfare on Southwest Airlines.
• Sports collectibles like a signed Muhammad Ali boxing glove and autographed Satchel Paige baseball. An abundance of KU memorabilia including a basketball signed by the 2009-2010 team and a framed magazine layout autographed by the Morris twins

Back again this year are the Nigro Brothers Auctioneers, who promise a spirited live auction beginning at 8 p.m. Every year the show is entertaining and competitive!

Admission to the Pawsible Dream is $35 per person at the door. Pre-registered attendees get a $5 discount (see left side for ordering information). You may also reserve an entire table for $500. Please contact Denise for table reservations.

All auction proceeds go to help the animals at the Lawrence Humane Society shelter, to provide them housing, daily care, and the medications they need. Please join us in helping the homeless, abandoned, and abused animals in our community. Together we can make dreams come true!

Location:
The event will take place in the main ballroom at the Lawrence Holiday Inn, 200 McDonald Drive, and attire is casual. Please park and enter on the west side main lobby entrance to the Holidome.

2011 Live Auction Items

1. "Union Square" Quilt
This beautiful 64x72 quilt will keep you warm on cold Kansas nights. The artist of this quilt is Pam Mayfield, and Lori Kukuk quilted it with fabric by Barbara Brackman. A lovely addition to your home!

2. KU Football Autographed by Coaches Gill and Long
Add to your sports memorabilia with this official KU football signed by coaches Turner Gill and Chuck Long. Comes with an acrylic display case.

3. Baseball Autographed by Satchel Paige
Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige was an American baseball player whose pitching in the Negro Leagues and in Major League Baseball made him a legend in his own lifetime. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971, the first player to be inducted from the Negro Leagues. This autographed baseball, complete with certificate of authenticity, would make a great addition to the baseball aficionado's collection.

4. Autographed 2009-2010 KU Men's Basketball
The 2009-2010 KU men's basketball team was both the Big XII tournament and the regular season conference champions. Remember that championship year with this official KU basketball autographed by the entire team. The ball comes with an attractive display case.

Paper tickets are not issued for this event. You will receive an e-mail receipt after completing your purchase. Pre-registered attendees simply check in at the door upon arrival the night of the auction.
