Thank you to everyone who attended our 14th annual Mutt 'n Strut on Saturday, May 9. Dogs of all sizes, shapes, and colors turned out with their "moms and dads" to strut their stuff and raise funds for the shelter animals. Thanks to your participation, the shelter raised $18,000 at this year's event. While we are very grateful for this amount, we were disappointed that we were down about $6,000 from last year. Likely the tight economy hit everyone's pocketbook.

To everyone who attended, and especially to those who raised pledge money, we can't thank you enough!

PLEDGE PRIZE WINNERS: We owe an incredible thank you to Debra Diehl, this year's top pledge prize winner, who raised $2,185! Way to go, Debra! Thank you also to Ashlynn Kahle, our youth top pledge winner, who raised $645. And, our first-ever Team Competition prize went to "The Weiners," a team of sweet little Dachshunds and their owners. Many thanks to The Weiners, who raised $569.

The $18,000 will be put to immediate use at the shelter to help offset the costs of our medical supplies and utilities and to add funds to Max's Club. During the first quarter of 2009 just these three expenses totalled more than $67,000. We've been hit hard by rising utility and medical costs. And sadly, the money in Max's Club, which is a special fund to help injured or ill animals, is not able to keep up with the expense we have incurred to save animals with serious medical problems. If you are not yet a member of Max's Club, please consider joining this very special group.

NEXT YEAR'S MUTT 'N STRUT
Start planning now for Mutt 'n Strut 2010, which will be held on Saturday, May 8. It's not too early to get your team formed for next year and to start raising pledge money RIGHT NOW! We heard many good comments about the prizes (an overnight at Great Wolf Lodge, a pizza and bowling party, an iPod shuffle, and much much more) awarded to the top pledge winners. Next year we promise more great prizes! We'll see you all on May 8, 2010!
