Mutt 'n Strut

Promoting Health and Wellness Through Animal Companionship
Saturday, May 7, 2011

Now is the time to start raising pledge money for Mutt 'n Strut 2011. With a new theme for this year's Mutt 'n Strut – Promoting Health and Wellness Through Animal Companionship – you'll have fun, maybe win a prize ... and help the shelter animals, too!

This year's event will at a new location: Watson Park, 7th and Kentucky!

The link between animals and human wellness has been documented since 1876. And in recent years the role of animals in promoting physical and psychological wellness has proved effective in nursing homes, hospitals, and other care-giving facilities. What do animals do for us? Their calming effect has resulted in lowering blood pressure, a pet's unconditional love has facilitated improved health in those suffering from a myriad of diseases, and the list goes on.

Animals in turn are dependant on humans for their physical and emotional well being. The human-animal bond is incredible, which is why the 2011 Mutt 'n Strut is recognizing the "rewards of a lifetime" we humans receive from our animal friends.
